Diane Tunnell is a watercolor artist residing in Holualoa on the Big Island of Hawaii. She pursued art at the Colorado State University, received a B.A. in Art and Anthropology at the University of Colorado, and an Associate Degree in Advertising Design at the Art Institute of Colorado. While in college, Diane studied art in the Tuscany Hills near Florence, Italy, and has traveled through Europe, Mexico and India enjoying the culture, art and architecture.
Diane focuses on watercolor for its brilliant vibrancy of color, subtle effects of light and transparency, and the ability to render linear details contrasted with spontaneously flowing areas that dance in the paintings. Her work is notable for its bold color, composition and design. As an artist, Diane is guided by her inner spiritual life, and inspired by the outward manifestation of God's beauty in Hawaii.
In the past, Diane has worked in various art forms including graphics, monoprints, oils, sculpture and stained glass design. She has taught art to children and adults, and is presently working on writing and illustrating a childrens' book.
